In the suck
I like to roam here on the floor
tasting my blood
wild and warm
like a carnival animal
licking scars as landmarks
pain is drive
onto crusts burst open
cantering towards the sea
When it comes
Let us wrap around each other
forget that we are sitting ducks
hen the voice of God
calls on her lunch break
to tell us it stopped growing
sheets of hives form in protest
there is chaos in each welt
like a body of troops
waging war on self
what happens now? again
Pink Soap
I stopped by the cemetery to see if I am pregnant
a hidden bathroom behind the mausoleum
is peaceful, pristine, never locked
beneath the skylight soaked in white tiles
I feel between my thighs
my fingers reveal no signs
so I wash with soap that looks like bubblegum
medicine my mom gave me as a child
safe in her arms where together we'd hum
lines from Rocky Raccoon
I wash again and again
watch the pink swish between my palms
until my hands shrivel

What has been the biggest surprise about pregnancy:
“Candidly, I think the most surprising thing about my pregnancy is just becoming pregnant. My IVF journey has been a long one, so when I took that first test we were really surprised.”
What are things that bring you comfort or make you feel good during pregnancy?
“I like to wake up early in the morning and go for a long walk. Listen to a podcast, learn something new. That feels good.”
How does being pregnant feel, in your own words?
"Today I feel exhausted and it’s only mid-morning. Most days I feel strong and capable. To witness the changes my body is making to allow for new life is incredible."
What are you most looking forward to?
“I’m just looking forward to meeting him. You know, what is he going to be like, how will he look, what will he feel like, what will he sound like…excited to say hello.”
What have you been craving lately?
“I’m in my second trimester now, and all I want to eat is pizza and sweets. Sadly, vegetables are completely unappealing at the moment!"
